ESL Builds a Pathway to Academic Success

University of the Potomac’s ESL (English as a Second Language) program is a series of intensive academic-focused English courses designed to prepare students for the rigors of a university environment. The objective is to develop students’ linguistic competence by focusing on the language functions required for academic achievements and everyday life activities. The ESL program also includes weekly American history and cultural activities.

Learning English as a Second Language

University of the Potomac’s academic-focused ESL program is designed to serve as a pathway that, upon satisfactory completion, will permit TOEFL or IELTS requirements to be waived, for immediate enrollment in a University of the Potomac program.

While you have hundreds of cities to choose from, few can compare to Washington, D.C.’s abundant entertainment and recreational options, and its ethnically and culturally diverse population. There’s certainly plenty to do, from visiting the many museums along the National Mall to taking in a Washington Nationals baseball game to simply enjoying the cherry blossoms in springtime.
